Comprehensive neuropsychological evaluations explore the brain functions underlying an individual's cognition, learning, behavior, and social-emotional development.
The evaluation includes standardized test measures. Testing involves paper-and-pencil tasks, interactive questions, hands-on activities, and iPad/computer-based measures. The evaluation process also includes an in-depth parent interview, review of records, and collaboration with additional providers (e.g., teachers, health care providers, therapists).
Each evaluation is tailored to the needs of the individual, but many include formal assessment in the following areas:
Free Consultation: The evaluation begins with a free consultation by phone, to determine if an evaluation is right for you or your child.
Parent Intake: The first appointment consists of a 90 minute parent intake session, provided virtually or in-person. This session includes an in-depth review of your child's history, as well as current concerns and functioning.
Testing Sessions: The number of days required for testing depends on the age of your child and current concerns. Typically, children are tested over the course of 2 days, for 3-4 hours each day. Testing includes multiple interactive activities that assess a wide range of skills. Breaks are provided as needed. Further information on the structure of the testing days and how to discuss testing with your child will be provided during the parent intake appointment.
Feedback Session: A detailed feedback session with parents is provided 1-2 weeks after testing is complete. During that time, results from the evaluation are discussed and key recommendations are provided in a range of areas (e.g., school accommodations and/or modifications, appropriate classroom placement, therapeutic services, community supports, etc.)
Report: A comprehensive written report is provided within 2-3 weeks of the feedback session.
